Boiling point

The past year has been undoubtedly one of the most challenging years that I can recall. The destruction of the federal government has led to volatile job market that has been difficult on everyone. Regardless of your level education. Regardless of your years of experience. Jobs are simply being overwhelmed with candidates many of whom are being forced to take on jobs that are substantially lower in salary. This administration will have you believe that there were many overpaid people in government. The same can be said about the private sector as well I guess there is a double standard there.
It is outrageous what has happened to thousands of people who were forced out of their jobs and livelihoods disrupted because of the shortsightedness of this administration. Inflation hasn’t gone anywhere. Cost of living is steadily on the rise. Yet there is no reprieve for the everyday citizen.
Couple that with what’s going on with ICE around the country and it’s only a matter of time before temperatures start to boil over and the violence increases. No, I am not calling for more violence. It’s not the answer. But let’s be real. How much do they expect people to take? For a second time, Trump has cause racial tensions to rise. In his first term we saw nationwide protest against injustices with police against people of color. Now they’ve up the scale with federalizing injustices against people of color through ICE. Hiring anyone who is willing to serve his cause with no regard for their humanity let alone their citizenship. This isn’t about immigration. That has been extremely obvious with each ICE encounter that has now turned deadly.
This, unfortunately, is just the tip of an iceberg we know is there but still don’t know to what extent. It’s not enough to have the country on the brink of a civil war, he wants to be at war with the world. One way or another he wants a conflict in his name and doesn’t seem to care how that happens or who it happens with.
These are dangerous times we are living in. With so much tension in the air. Uncertainty lurking around every corner, people’s defense mechanisms are on high alert. It’s hard to be optimistic with a “and this too shall pass” mentality, but it will. The question is to what end. This has to serve as a reality check. The signs were written on the wall everywhere, yet people still made the choice to vote such a person into the most power seat in the country. We should come together as a nation and move towards a better tomorrow. Sadly, in this 250th year, that is far from the case and with only one year into this term, it will only get worse before it gets better.
