Election Woes

It is pretty clear at this point in the  presidential race who the final two will be. The next question is which of the two evils will you choose? But then again a better question is why bother? I mean really I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to vote this year. This is a conversation that comes up every election cycle. To vote or not to vote?

People have always been reliant on media to get information but the problem we are having is analyzing what we receive. You get a glimpse of just about everything, then the conversation starts. A dialogue begins that may sway your train of thought. For instance, you’re shown the violence that erupts at Trump rallies and the conversation is about how the “rioters” are just there to cause trouble. However, no one mentions how Trump encourages his supporters to physically assault these protesters (who are of the minority). Before everyone joined the race, the talk has been how it is Clinton’s race to lose. Ever wonder why Bernie Sanders took so long to gain strength?  Because they wanted you to focus on Hillary. Let’s be real, Hillary’s 2016 campaign started in 2008! Had people really started to figure out who else was running on their own instead of waiting for the media, this could be a different race.

Then, there is Trump. The only reason people started flocking to him was because he wouldn’t give you the typical political answer. But what does he actually stand for? He’s a arrogant racist with no vision. Let’s not forget how indecisive he is as well. He flip flops his opinions so much, the only thing I can call his supporters is racist because that is at least the one thing that’s clear about his train of thought.

We focus so much on two candidates that we forget there is a such thing as an Independent. Remember them? They are the people the media wont tell you about. Now that Democrats and Republicans have their one candidate, no one wants you to think about anybody else.  Right now there is discussion on whether or not Bernie Sanders will run as an Independent; yes he can do that! But no one is talking about Gary Johnson, the front runner for Independents. Look Him Up! I think everyone should run as themselves and not an affiliation. The whole Red and Blue crap gets in the way of speaking on real issues, instead, candidates speak on what’s good for the party or in the name of the party.

So where does this leave the average non voter? Stuck in limbo. But I challenge those who do not like to vote because of the flawed system to look outside the box. Get to know all of the candidates for yourself instead of waiting for the media to do it for you. Liberal, conservative, or moderate, we owe it to ourselves and our children. We always say “my voice doesn’t” count, but we don’t realize that together,it does. The more people who come out together for the same cause, makes a difference. The system needs to change, but it won’t if we remain quiet and go with the flow.

Be the change you want, don’t just talk about it.
